Rev. Douglas Aldrich

Pastor Doug has been the senior pastor at SCC since 2007. He is a native of Manchester, CT and grew in a local church belonging to the theological liberal United Church of Christ (UCC). After finishing his undergraduate work at the University of Connecticut he perceived a calling to ministry and enrolled at Yale University to study theology.

While at Yale Doug heard the Gospel for the first time and by the grace of our Lord was convicted of his sins and came to faith in Jesus Christ. Because of this conversion he left the UCC, sought standing with the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC) and perceived a calling to the mainline churches to encourage them in the Gospel.

After graduating with a M.Div., Doug began his pastoral calling in a small Congregational church in Vermont, where he was ordained. In Vermont he fell in love and married his beautiful wife, Verna. Besides serving as a full time pastor, Doug also was an adjunct professor at the College of St. Joseph in Rutland and a board member for the Rutland Area Christian School.

After six years in Vermont, Doug and Verna moved to Missouri, there he served a congregation of the Evangelical & Reformed tradition for seven years. In Missouri, they adopted from China their wonderful little girl, Rebekah. During these years Doug continued his theological education by taking classes at Wycliffe Hall at Oxford University, Reformed Theological Seminary and St. Louis University.

The Aldrich’s were greatly pleased to move back to Connecticut in 2007 and have been greatly blessed to serve SCC since.

Pastor Doug runs a youtube channel called “Simply Reformed.” It provides video content about the basics of Christianity, the Bible and one’s walk with Christ. If you have any questions or suggestions for videos please email them to Pastor Doug.
