Willard Minton

Our Senior Choir Director Willard Minton and his family have been worshipping at the Second Congregational Church of Winsted since 1970. Upon joining the church, he became a member of the Senior Choir. In 1986, Will was asked by the Music Committee to become the Senior Choir Director. He has served the church in that position ever since.

Will is a retired high school choir and band director, having taught at Winsted’s Gilbert School. Will also taught music history and literature courses at Northwestern Connecticut Community College for more than fifteen years. An active musician, Will leads the Harmonious Brass Choir, plays in and directs musical theater productions for several Community Theater groups, and teaches private instrumental music lessons.

Will has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Connecticut, where he majored in voice and choral music, a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Bridgeport, and has done advanced study in music education at Central Connecticut State University.

Will and his wife Patty live in Barkhamsted. They have three grown children and eight grandchildren.
